THE JEFF FOXWORTHY SHOW

Jeff Foxworthy had guested on CYBILL during hiatus from his own troubled show, which Gould subsequently took over as showrunner six episodes into its second season, less than a week after he left CYBILL.  The FOXWORTHY ratings improved but the show was always treated like a poor country cousin by NBC, which at that time was riding high on upscale hits like FRASIER and SEINFELD and FRIENDS.  The network didn’t promote FOXWORTHY and didn’t renew it for another season, replacing it with a series called BUILT TO LAST which lasted eight episodes.

Gould thinks the episodes “Cain’t Teach a Dead Dog New Tricks” and “Foxworthy Shall Rise Again” are especially worth a look.
