Gould was promoted to showrunner and head writer amidst the chaos related to the departure of series creator Chuck Lorre early in season two. Later that season, the show won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series.
Though CYBILL is largely forgotten now, he is very proud of the way that its nonpareil writing staff rallied to save the show, and particularly likes the three-episode run of episodes 14-16, including “Lowenstein’s Lament,” “A Who’s Who for What’s-His-Name,” and “Wedding Bell Blues.”
Gould left the show amidst fresh chaos early in season three.
